In the Spring of 2014 I was asked to create a logo for the English as Second Language (ESL) department at Morgan State University. I was given some photos from the ESL team’s cell phones. They were grainy, and would not reprint well. So, I decided to follow both the Nigerian and Brazilian cohorts around for a week. I photographed them in classes, the cafeteria, and on trips to cultural institutions like Ft. McHenry, where the National Anthem was written and to the National Aquarium. I also created a logo that can be stacked in 2 very different ways and I worked in all 3 of Morgan’s school colors. The postcards and brochures have acted as collateral for the department for the last two years. Below are the three postcards mailed out to potential Morgan ESL students.
